At its core, Samurai uses X3DH (Extended Triple Diffie-Hellman) for initial key agreement and the Double Ratchet protocol for ongoing message encryption. This provides perfect forward secrecy, meaning that if any key is ever compromised, past messages remain secure. Every message uses a fresh encryption key, so even a sophisticated attacker who captures message traffic learns nothing.

But Samurai goes further. Sealed Sender technology hides who is talking to whom, even from our servers. Device-specific rotating salts add an additional layer of entropy that's unique to each device and rotates every 24-72 hours. And for the future, Samurai implements hybrid post-quantum cryptography using CRYSTALS-Kyber-768, protecting your messages even against quantum computers that don't exist yet.
