Beyond screens and keyboards

Interface Futures

The dominant interface paradigms like screens, keyboards, and mice were designed for a different era of computing. As AI systems become more capable, we need interfaces that leverage their strengths while remaining accessible and intuitive.

Our research explores conversational interfaces that adapt to user expertise, ambient computing that provides information without demanding attention, and multimodal systems that combine voice, gesture, and visual interaction. We pay special attention to accessibility, ensuring new interface paradigms work for everyone.
